What is Elevation 2026?

Elevation 2026 is the CFMA NorCal/Nevada Regional Conference — the joint annual summit of the Construction Financial Management Association's Sacramento, Silicon Valley, Reno, and San Francisco chapters. The main program runs Monday, October 19 and Tuesday, October 20, 2026 at the Tahoe Blue Event Center on the south shore of Lake Tahoe, with a Sunday FUNday kickoff at Tipsy Putt on October 18.

The attendee list is the reason we are going. CFMA regionals draw CFOs, controllers, accounting managers, and the IT leaders who support them, from general contractors, specialty subcontractors, and heavy civil firms across Northern California and Nevada.

The conference theme is a systems problem in disguise

The organizers built this year's program around a question every construction CFO is already living with: how do you keep adjusting your processes and your business model fast enough that shifting market demands do not quietly eat the value of the firm?

We would add one thing to that framing. Almost every one of those adjustments eventually lands on your ERP.

You decide to chase public work, and now you need certified payroll that survives a DIR audit. You expand into a second state, and your tax setup was never designed for it. You take on a joint venture, and your job cost structure cannot represent it. You bring self-perform crews in-house, and suddenly union fringes matter. The strategy changes in a meeting. The system has to be reconfigured to match, and that part rarely gets scoped.

The firms that adapt cleanly are not the ones with the best software. They are the ones whose systems were configured with enough structural room to absorb a change in direction.

Because the problems that bring contractors to us are financial problems wearing a technology costume.

Nobody calls us because they are curious about Oracle. They call because certified payroll takes four days to produce and still comes back rejected. Because job cost reports do not tie to the general ledger and nobody can say why. Because a go-live slipped two quarters and the CFO is out of patience explaining it to the board.

We configure CMiC for a living. Bring us:

• Certified and prevailing wage payroll. California DIR reporting, Davis-Bacon, apprentice ratios, and the fringe crediting decisions that determine whether your reports come back clean.

• Multi-state and union payroll. Reciprocity, multiple locals on a single job, and the preferred pay rate strategy that keeps it maintainable twelve months later.

• Job costing and financials that actually reconcile. Why your WIP does not tie, and what in the cost structure is causing it.

• Oracle database performance. If your CMiC reports crawl, that is usually not a CMiC problem. Our founder is an Oracle ACE award recipient.

• Implementations running behind schedule. What is actually driving the overrun, and whether it is recoverable.

• Whether you need outside help at all. Sometimes the honest answer is no, and we will tell you so.

We are an independent CMiC specialist, not a reseller

We do not sell you the software and we are not paid by the vendor. That independence is the entire point. When we tell you a module is not worth configuring the way you are planning to configure it, there is no commission riding on the answer.

Most of our clients found us after an implementation went sideways. A few found us before. The second group spent considerably less money.
